Okay, so, Euphoria. We all know it. We all love it (even if it gives us major anxiety). It’s the show that makes us feel both incredibly young and ancient at the same time. Think sparkly eye makeup and existential dread. That’s Euphoria for you.
It feels like we’ve been waiting for Season 3 for, like, EVER. Seriously, remember when we thought we’d have it by now? Yeah, me too. The wait has been... intense. Like, really intense. We’ve had time to rewatch both seasons at least five times. We’ve debated all the theories. We’ve probably cried a little. And now? Now we’re just… waiting. But there are whispers! And rumors! And that’s what we’re here to talk about.
First off, let’s get to the big question: when is this magical thing actually happening? As of right now, your guess is as good as mine. We know they’re working on it. We know it’s in the works. But a solid release date? Nope. Nada. Zip. It’s like trying to find a unicorn. A very stylish, very dramatic unicorn.
The latest buzz is that filming has been pushed back. Again. So, prepare for more waiting, folks. Maybe it’s a good thing? Maybe they’re polishing it to perfection? Or maybe they’re just trying to figure out how to get Zendaya to agree to one more season of intense emotional turmoil. I mean, who can blame her? Playing Rue must be exhausting. Plus, she’s off conquering Hollywood. Good for her!
Speaking of conquering, let’s talk casting. This is where things get REALLY juicy. The big news that sent shockwaves through the fandom (myself included) was that some of our favorite characters might not be back. Or at least, not in the same way. This is where my unpopular opinion comes in. Brace yourselves.

I’m kind of okay with it. GASP. I know, I know! Don’t cancel me. But hear me out. Euphoria is a show about change. It’s about growing up, even when it’s messy. And sometimes, that means people move on. Characters get their stories told. And maybe, just maybe, some of our beloved characters have reached a point where their arcs are complete.
For example, what more can we even do with some of them? Think about it. We’ve seen it all. We’ve seen the parties, the meltdowns, the questionable decisions. It’s been a wild ride. If a character’s journey feels finished, then maybe it’s time to let them go. It’s a bittersweet thought, I get it. It means less screen time for our faves. But it also means new stories. New characters. New drama. And that’s what Euphoria does best, right?
However, there are some people who MUST be back. Like, it’s non-negotiable. You can’t have Euphoria without Zendaya as Rue. End of story. And Hunter Schafer as Jules? Come on. Their dynamic is the heart and soul of so much of the show. We need them. We need their complicated, beautiful, sometimes infuriating relationship.

What about Sydney Sweeney as Cassie? Her journey has been… a lot. But she’s so compelling. And Jacob Elordi as Nate? Ugh, he’s the worst, but he’s also undeniably captivating. The show needs its villains, right? And he’s a masterclass in playing a villain you can’t stop watching.
Then there’s Alexa Demie as Maddy. Queen. Icon. Her one-liners alone deserve their own spin-off. And Barbie Ferreira as Kat? If Kat isn’t back, I will riot. Seriously. Her arc was a little… underdeveloped in the last season. I’m hoping for a redemption for Kat. A big, beautiful, confident redemption.
There are also talks about the show taking a jump in time. Like, a big jump. Years later. Imagine these characters as adults. What would they be like? Would Rue be sober and thriving? Would Nate have mellowed out (ha!)? Would Maddy be running a fashion empire? It’s an interesting thought. It could give a fresh perspective. Or it could be a disaster. Only time will tell!

So, while we wait for the actual, official news (which we will probably get about two weeks before it airs, because that’s just how Euphoria rolls), what are we supposed to do? We can’t just sit around and stare at the ceiling. We need our fix!
If you’re like me and need something to fill the void, I’ve got a few suggestions. First, obviously, rewatch Euphoria. Again. This time, pay attention to the details you missed. Or focus on your favorite character’s outfits. That’s a full-time job in itself.
Then, there’s the obvious: delve into the other projects the cast is working on. Zendaya is in everything amazing. Sydney Sweeney is doing her thing. Jacob Elordi is everywhere. You can basically build a whole new watching list just based on the Euphoria cast’s IMDb pages. It’s a good way to support them and get your fix.

If you’re looking for something with a similar vibe, but maybe slightly less… soul-crushing… you could try shows like Genera+ion. It’s got a similar teen drama feel, with a bit more quirkiness. Or maybe something a little more grounded, like Normal People. That one will break your heart in a different, more poetic way.
And of course, there’s always the comfort of rewatching older seasons. Seriously, the first season is pure gold. The second season had its moments, but there’s something about the raw, early days of these characters that’s just so captivating.
Ultimately, the wait for Euphoria Season 3 is a test of our patience. A test of our love for glitter and angst. But whatever happens, we’ll be here. We’ll be watching. And we’ll be ready for whatever dramatic, stylish, and utterly unforgettable chaos Sam Levinson throws at us next. Just promise me one thing: more Maddy scenes. Please.
